Supporting Inclusive Health and Ageing in the Community
All older people have the right to access timely, acceptable, and affordable healthcare of appropriate quality.
This website has been developed by Bolton Clarke in conjunction with the Department of Health and Department of Social Services ACSIHAG grant funding. This evidence-based resource provides community care providers with resources and information to ensure diversity and inclusion are considered in practice.
Resources have been collated in close consultation with advisory group members who represent various diversity groups. The site supports dissemination of information with a broad approach to the Commonwealth Diversity Framework.
This website is managed by the Bolton Clarke Care Innovation Team and supported by the Bolton Clarke Research Institute.
Diversity is about recognising that everybody is unique
In the community, the care provided should be fair, rather than the same for all
Challenge your assumptions, we are more alike than we are different
Celebrate diversity by sharing similarities and embracing difference
Practice inclusive communication by building rapport, using plain language, avoiding jargon, and always putting the person before the disease.
All people have a right to physical, financial and information accessibility
Inclusive services are based on the person’s needs, making sure that services are respectful and sensitive to individual preferences
